The PDP faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki held a special national convention at the party's office in Area 10, Garki, Abuja, on 30 May 2026, ratifying former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The faction had earlier vowed to resist what it called an attempt by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to frustrate the ratification ceremony. The dispute reflected a deeper leadership struggle within the PDP over which convention, and which national officers, legitimately represent the party, a struggle later resolved in Wike's favour when the Supreme Court dismissed Turaki's appeal.
