The Peoples Democratic Party affirmed Hon. Usman Adamu Sufi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections at a special congress held at the party's Bauchi Secretariat on 20 May 2026. Delegates from all 20 local government areas of the state took part, with the process conducted through voice vote and delegate affirmation under the supervision of INEC officials. As the sole aspirant in the race, Sufi's endorsement was unanimous. Committee chairman Yusuf Doma declared him winner of the primary, after which Sufi thanked delegates for what he called "a major honour" and pledged to prioritise education and healthcare, describing both as critical to Bauchi State's development.
